In this video Sergei Karaliou will guide you through progressions and regressions for Deck Squat.
Deck squat belongs to squatting patterns group of movements but the story twists with body control, core strength and mobility skills development.
Full version has a dynamic pattern that will entertain your cardio vascular system from another “gentle” angle.
So first things first:
- Mobility of full squatting pattern has to be developed for full deck squat version (all the way down to the floor)
- Stability and core control playing a role in this pattern as well
- Segmentation has to be kept in mind during practice.
One of the limiting factors for Deck Squats is mobility.
Great aid for that we use at our facility is elevated platform (such as several mats stacked up).
You can use low stool, bench or tire for that (no rolling back for obvious reasons)
Spend several sessions on the level that you can afford so you connective tissues will be able to support next level of progression.
As an advanced option – Single Leg Deck Squat can be integrated into your practice.
